How do you clean pewter dishes?
Just regular soap and water?
Can you put them in the dishwasher?
I found a pewter bread tray that we were given for our wedding and would like to start using it. But it needs to be cleaned first and I don’t want to mess it up. The label on the back says it is safe for cooking and serving food, but nothing about cleaning.

I have some pewter wear and I put them right in the dish water with everything else. I also have a special cleaner for them that you can buy anywhere when you want to give an extra sparkle, so to speak. The stores carry special cleaners for brass, silver, copper, and pewter, I have them all, but you really don’t need it with pewter. Hope I was of some help
Edit; I’m sorry Susanna B, but I use my pewter sugar and creamer, along with the bread plates and other things and no one has ever gotten sick from this. If people got sick or it was dangerous to use pewter, then I think there would have to be a warning on the items.
