Every year, people all over the world come to gather to celebrate the holidays. Whether you're decorating a Christmas tree or buy a bouquet of flowers for their special St Valentin, you can not deny that the parties play a vital role in our lives.

Here are some fun facts about popular festivals throughout year. The next time you are sitting at the table with friends and family, why not share some of these interesting little things:

Christmas

1. During the Christmas season, Visa cards are used an average of 5340 times per minute in the United States.

2. In order for Santa to deliver presents time, would have to travel 111 million miles in a 31-hour interval. This equals 3.6 million miles per hour or 1000 kilometers per second.

3. On December 26 was called Boxing Day, but was changed because, on this day, the money that is traditionally found in the alms boxes were placed in churches. Money of these boxes were distributed to the poor after Christmas.

4. Alabama was the first U.S. state to proclaim the Christmas Day as a legal holiday in 1836, while that Oklahoma was the last in 1907.

Valentine's Day

5. According to Hallmark research, 73 percent of Valentine's flowers are bought by men.

6. Also according to Hallmark research, 188 billion Valentine cards are exchanged annually.

7. The first box of Valentine chocolates was introduced by Richard Cadbury in 1868.

July 4

8. There are 30 places nationwide with "liberty" in their name. The most populated is the freedom of Missouri and has a population of 26,232. Iowa, which directs all U.S. states, with four seats with the word freedom (Libertyville, North Liberty, New Liberty and West Liberty).

9. The first part of July 4 held White House occurred in 1801, when Thomas Jefferson was president.

St. Patrick's Day

10. Chicago is known for dying the Chicago River green on St. Patrick's Day. This began in 1962. Today, 40 pounds of green dye is used to convert the Green River for several hours.

Halloween

11. Orange and Black, the traditional colors of Halloween they represent, were chosen because orange is associated with harvests and black is associated with darkness and death.

12. In Scotland, instead of saying "trick or treat," kids say "the sky is blue, the grass is green, we have our Halloween? "

13. In Ireland, children have salt sprinkled on the hair on Halloween to scare away the spirits.

Easter

14. The egg was chosen as a traditional symbol of Easter, because the Egyptians, Gauls, Persians, Romans and Greeks saw the egg as a symbol of life.

Thanksgiving
